We need to make it easier – not harder – to create and maintain small businesses in our country.  Small businesses are the backbone of America.  Small business provides for about 40% of our annual gross domestic product.  Small businesses are the greatest source of American jobs.  Under the previous Administration, massive cuts were leveled at the budget of the Small Business Administration while huge tax cuts were granted to the largest American corporations, many of which had off-shored their operations.  And unfortunately, my opponent supported the Bush Administration’s attack on small businesses right down the line – while small American business was being deprived of its voice.  One of the first actions undertaken by the Obama Administration was signing of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 in February of 2009 literally within a few weeks of the new president’s inauguration.  That act was applauded by small business organizations all over America because its incentives and tax cuts are designed to restore our nation’s economy while creating or saving up to 4 million jobs, with the majority in small businesses.   My opponent voted against that restoration, a restoration necessitated by the economic irresponsibility he had supported in the previous eight years.
